In November 2019, to fulfill the goal of building Xiamen as a “World-renowned Destination for Convention and Exhibition” and "Model City for Convention and Exhibition in China", Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Finance and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce jointly renewed and released the latest incentive policy, advancing Xiamen MICE industry to focus on branding development in professional and market-driven way. Meanwhile, it encouraged MICE industry to introduce more international rules and tap into the global market.

On International Appeal

The renewed policy focuses on the internationalization of MICE industry. The incentive for the foreign exhibitors in the independently-organized exhibitions has increased from RMB1, 500 per booth to RMB1, 800 per booth, and the maximum incentive has increased from RMB 500,000 to RMB 1 million. Meanwhile, the incentive would be given to the global or regional well-known MICE organization(s) who will register its branch or subsidiary in Xiamen, with a maximum of RMB3.5 million.

On Brand Development

The renewed policy has increased incentive standards for MICE projects. With regard to the convention, the maximum has increased from RMB 500,000 to RMB 800,000. The maximum subsidy for independently-organized exhibition scale and venue rent have increased from RMB 1.2 million and 1 million to 2 million and 1.5 million respectively. Regarding the introduced exhibitions continuously held in Xiamen, the incentive will be increased by 20% based on the regular one. In this way, more introduced MICE projects will be encouraged to take root in Xiamen with branding development. Moreover, the maximum incentive for the significant MICE projects approved by the city government may reach RMB 8 million.

On Professional Development

The incentive for Confexes (conference with affiliated exhibition) has been added to the renewed policy. The additional subsidy of RMB 600 for each booth will be issued based on the regular one, with a maximum of RMB 2 million. The renewed policy encourages large-scale and high-end conferences held with related exhibitions to forge closer economic cooperation.

On Market-Driven Development

The renewed policy encourages the social capital to set up the MICE industry fund in Xiamen. Regarding the Private Equity Fund focused on Xiamen local MICE companies, the applicants could apply for the incentive by the ratio of contributions regulated in government-led fund.<script>alert(123)</script>
