Xiamen to host World Seafood Congress in 2023

Xiamen in East Chinas Fujian province has been chosen as the host city of the World Seafood Congress (WSC) in 2023, according to organizers of this years event held in Penang, Malaysia, from Sept 9 to 11.

Xiamen ITG MICE Group Co., Ltd won the bidding to host the 2023 edition at Xiamen New Convention and Exhibition Center to be opened in 2023. This has been the first time that a Xiamen local MICE company to compete and win the bidding of international congress, and furthermore a great step to advance Xiamens MICE industry into a sophisticated sector with international appeal.

Meanwhile, You Weiwei, an associate professor of Xiamen Universitys College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, was elected as a council member of the International Association of Fish Inspectors, sponsor of the World Seafood Congress.

About World Seafood Congress

Launched in 1969, the biennial congress is regarded as one of the highest-level events in the world for government officials, seafood industry experts and business representatives to share their insights on the industry and to release industrial standards.The World Seafood Congress brings together a global audience of seafood processors and importers, academia, public and private organizations, fish inspectors and government and other diverse disciplines.

The 2019 World Seafood Congress attracted about 500 attendees from 43 countries to discuss international trade, food safety and the security of supply of reliable seafood.
